Regardless if you are using our website or any other ad posting site to buy or sell, there are still some things to consider to avoid scams. Here are few tips.

  • Deal locally, face to face in a public place
  • Do not provide payment to anyone over the phone
  • Do not wire funds or do bank transfers
  • Do not give out personal or financial information such as your social security number, bank account, etc.
  • Use a secure payment form such as cash or Paypal.
  • Rentals: see the item in person first
  • Jobs: go to the location to apply or their official company website to apply

How to recognize a scam

Most scams attempts involve one or more of the following:

  • Vague initial inquiry asking about “the item.”
  • Poor grammar/spelling in contact inquiry.
  • Requesting to meet face-to-face to complete the transaction in a non-public place.

Meeting in public places

Personal safety is always number one.

  • Always meet the buyer or seller in a public place.
  • Never go alone. Bring a friend to witness the transaction.
  • Keep an eye out for your safety.
  • Don’t meet in a secluded place.
  • Never invite strangers to your home.
  • Always take your cell phone along with you
