1940’s Indian Scout Flat Tracker

Here’ a couple of pics with my old man “Hank” when he was flat tracking an Indian Scout back in the late 40’s. His other brothers, Pete and Allen, were also heavily involved in the local flat track circuit in and around Springfield, MA. My old man said they yanked everything they could from the bikes to lose the weight and if they didn’t have a “hot shoe”, they simply hack-sawed the curved end from a bumper and tied it to their left shoe. I am sure that a whole bunch of 30’s era Fords were running around Massachusetts with missing bumper ends.
